Distichon Port Barrell Whisky Release
Puss and Mew Distillery is proud to introduce you to Distichon Whisky. Named after Hordeum distichon being the scientific name for 2 row barley which is the hero of our products.
Distiller’s Notes:
Distichon celebrates the humble two-row barley that began this journey. Using premium Australian Barley, distilled in our beloved Australian-made still, Helen, and nurtured in a first-fill Portuguese Ruby Port cask, this inaugural release is a whisky of provenance, patience and passion.
Rich, fruit-forward and wonderfully approachable, it’s a whisky that tells the story of where it came from and the people who made it.
Puss & Mew’s 5th Birthday Race Day Celebration

Five years ago, we opened our doors with a vision of creating a place where great food, exceptional drinks and memorable experiences bring people together. Now it’s time to celebrate this incredible milestone—and we’d love you to join us!
After the fantastic success of last year’s celebration, we’re bringing it back bigger and better than ever. Dress in your race-day finest, gather your friends and settle in for an afternoon of delicious food, refreshing drinks, racing excitement and plenty of fun.
Your ticket includes:
- A Raspberry or Limoncello Spritz on arrival (can exchange for Beer or Wine)
- A cheese & charcuterie board to share
- Entry into our first race sweep
The excitement doesn’t stop there! We’ll be running a sweep for every race throughout the afternoon with every food or drink purchase made between races earning you an entry into the next race sweep. Up for grabs will be Puss and Mew Products and vouchers for experiences. The more you enjoy throughout the day, the more chances you’ll have to win!

THE legend
The great invention.
Puss & Mew Gin was inspired by the legend of an enterprising gin-slinger by the name of Captain Dudley Bradstreet.
Bradstreet devised the world’s first vending machine to evade new liquor laws that restricted the sale of gin during the 18th Century. This took the form of an old tomcat in a window, which later became known as the Puss & Mew.
England’s thirsty masses would walk up to the statue and say “Puss puss, do you have any gin?” Bradstreet would meow behind the statue, and a small drawer would open up in the cat’s mouth. The drinker would drop a coin, then Bradstreet would pour a shot of gin through the cat’s paw, straight into the pedestrian’s awaiting cup, inadvertently creating the world’s first vending machine.
Because Bradstreet was hidden inside the house, the Police had no authority to catch him and the legend of the Puss & Mew was born. This story of ingenuity and invention has inspired the ethos of our house-made gin.
